Employee Workshops
Alerts employees to the problems of a bad back and other musculoskeletal
injuries: how a body works, what goes wrong, and changes that can be made TODAY
to help prevent injury. We focus on personal postural habits and general
ergonomic principles that can be applied immediately to the job. Workshops
designed for both office personal and manual workers.
Ergonomic Review and Worksite Visits
On-site risk assessment of the work, job demands and worker performance, to
assess the potential for musculoskeletal injury (MSI). Observations and
discussions focus on ergonomic risk issues: the job, specific tasks, the tools
and equipment used, and changes the individual can make to improve personal work
patterns or habits which can cause problems. Our final report details risk
factors for management review.
Train the Trainer/Ergonomics
Training for supervisors and/or your Health and Safety Committee to analyze
risk, conduct ergonomic assessments, and provide practical, on-site training in
your workplace. Intensive skills-training on the bio-mechanics of movement
allows Trainers a degree of understanding risk that makes our program unique and
applicable across your entire organization. Program includes one or two day
training, our full
Trainer's Manual, all materials for conducting risk assessments, and "phone
hot-line" assistance for your Trainers for one year.
Student Programs
Our workshops on ergonomics and repetitive strain give students practical
knowledge and hands-on experience to improve ergonomic issues in their personal
and work activities. Our goal is to reach young people at the time they are
learning new skills. School workshops cover appropriate topics including
computers, bikes, back-packs, injuries and fitness issues. It is important to
promote good postural habits when students are young, when the bones are still
supple and able to change. Older students can change bad habits also, but they
need to know why.
In-Service Back Education/Wellness Program (One Day Course)
A complete review of back education, excercise and postural
alignment/training to increase back fitness. Workplace management, lifestyle
habits, nutrition and stress factors which can influence back health are covered
in this program. An excellent choice for office personnel, health care and other
professionals who suffer nagging problems with back and neck ache. A one day
Wellness in the Workplace program can be developed for a thorough exposure to
ergonomic issues at work and home, special body-awareness exercises to relax the
back and body, and the importance of nutrition and lifestyle issues.
Time Out! The Importance of Play in the Workplace.
Creativity, workplace harmony, stress management and play are all explored
in a variety of formats: a keynote address, informal group discussion or
participatory workshop. The phrase "Oh, grow up!" is usually hurled at the most
creative and spontaneous individuals in our midst, and the most often hurled by
us at our own selves. This workshop will take a look at the serious consequences
this phrase has on our society in general, and in our workplace in particular.
We examine the idea that play is not just kid's stuff.
